Week 3 Recap

Half of the league took the week off but the other four teams braved the 90 degree heat, they don’t call it Hotlanta for nothing. In the Saturday division the upstart Duct Tape Hillbillies took on the Rough Riders and on Sunday the NBC faced off against the Swamp Donkeys.

Riders 11, Hillbillies 0
Game 1 saw a most dominant outing for the early season Smoltzy favorite Brad Brickhouse, Striking out 15 and pitching his first career no hitter. Hillbilly bats were silent but the Riders put 11 runs on the board as Brad Brickhouse homered off Omar and Blaine went 4 for 5 with a double and his league leading 6th Home Run.

Hillbillies 12, Riders 6
Game 2 saw Riders pitcher Stephan Archer make his first start against Hillbilly hurler Jon. Archer was on for the first 2 innings but the wheels came off a bit in the 3rd. after a controversial call on the bases Mike took Archer deep with the Salami. Blaine came in to relive the starter but got shelled again, not sure what wrong with him but as of now he just aint the pitcher he once was. Archer came back in to finish the game, and the break seemed to help but the damage had been done. Mike and Jon from the Hillbillies both went deep twice and the Billies take game 2.

NBC 8, Donkeys 0
Game 1 pitted Nellies front man Ken Crochet against Donkeys leader Chad Alexander. Chad was not sharp* as the NBC put up 8 runs as Sam Crochet found his swing, hitting for the cycle including 2 doubles and a very difficult to pull off triple on the smallish fields of Kittridge park. Ken Crochet one upped Brad Brickhouse with a No No of his own and the Perfect game to boot.

NBC 8, Donkeys 7
In Game 2 Josh Shul faced off against the hard throwing Sam Crochet. Sam struggled to find the K zone and stay within the speed limitations of the WATL giving up 6 runs in the first 3 innings. Josh was on for 5 innings but the 6th was a different story. Giving up a leadoff HR to Ken and then 4 singles in a row, despite stellar defense from Chris Riggs, Josh filled the bases and a walk off single from Ken did the Donkeys in. NBC returns to form after two rough weeks to start the season.

*It has been noted that Chad actually did look pretty spiffy out there, he just didn't pitch well
