Week 2 Recap

Rough Riders 6 - NBC 1
Brad Brickhouse faced off against 2010 Smoltzy winner Ken Crochet. Both pitchers were on but it was a few HRs over the short poarches of Kittridge that did in the Nellies. Blaine hit one and Brad hit three off the usually tough Crochet.

Rough Riders 16 - NBC 13
Game two saw another implosion by Rider pitcher Blaine, against the flame throwing Sam Crochet, clocked at 79 mph on his hardest throws. Sam struggled with control but the riders got behind off three HRs from the Nellies. 13-9 NBC going into the 6th, and final inning, Sam gave up a couple of runs and loaded the bases and The Big Man Stephan Archer dinked a check-swing oppo HR just clearing the very short right field fence, walk off style.

Hillbillies vs Swamp Donkeys

Swamp Donkeys showed up ready to play and no Duct Tape Hillbillies showed. Donkeys will take the two forfeit wins and look forward to the next matchup versus NBC.

TPC 10 - Pirates 2
The first game between the Pirates and TPC started off innocent enough, with both Johnny and Jordan having an inning or two of brilliance. However, soon the over-powering bats of TPC started to chip away at the edges of what would be considered a decent pitching outing against any other team, and ended up walking away with a 10-2 win. I believe Kevin had a homer, and maybe Nathan, because he is my arch-nemesis apparently, and the Buccos' only runs were courtesy of rookie Brendan's 2-run shot, his fifth homer of the season, I believe. Other than that, Johnny was his usual sneaky self.

TPC 14 - Pirates 0
The second game saw the absence of any offense by the Pirates against Nathan, and Marc dropped his first pitching performance of the year, 14-0. Son Stephen relieved him in the fourth, but to no avail, as the TPC mercied the Buccos in to submission. Worth noting is that Marc, hitting one handed again, was the lucky recipient of a free base on Kevin's first error of the season. As Brendan can attest, the wind and the trees in the left field of the Kittredge Park set up was quite the ruckus in the field all day; imagine a really mean tall guy just flicking your easy fly balls away any time you touched the ball. Yeah, it was really annoying. Over all, the set was fun, but the Pirates look forward to putting this week behind them and are getting ready for Wiffle House, sans Brian and Hobbs, in Week 3.

Wiffle House 13 - Isotopes 12
The Isotopes took a 12-6 lead through 3 innings, as rookie Chris Haistens struggled in his second outing for the House and 'Topes pitcher James McNeil pounded the strikezone, allowing just 2 walks all game. In the 4th inning, Brian came in throwing in vintage 2007 form, striking out the side in all 3 innings pitched to shut down the Isotopes offense, while the Wiffle House offense continued to chip away at the Isotopes lead largely thanks to 4 RBIs from Matt Hobbs. Down 2 in the bottom of the 6th, Wiffle House was able to score a run and load the bases with nobody out before back-to-back sac flies from Hobbs and Haistens drove in the tying and winning runs to win

Wiffle House 9 - Isotopes 2
Game 2 - Jeremy John was easily the game MVP, throwing a complete game with the only blemish a 2-run homer by David (I think,) and crushing a pair of home runs of his own. Wiffle House took this one running away, by a score of 9-2
