Week 9 Recaps
TPC 10, Pirates 0 (4 innings)
After some initial chipping away, Chris Smith hits a double or triple or something that scores the final three runs, and Kevin and Johnny Smith shut down the Buccos from the mound. Jordan received the loss.
Pirates 1, TPC 2
Daniel and Grant were on in this one. The only runs scored against Grant were courtesy of a bases-loaded sacrifice fly, and a solo homer off the bat of Chris. The top of the sixth started out with a bang in the Pirates' last bid to tie/win. Jordan switched to the black bat for the inning and hit a homer deep to left, but, following a two-out single from Marc, struck out to end the ballgame.
Rough Riders over the Isotopes 12-2 and 10-0, in two mercy rule games
The Isotopes were missing a few players, and their pitching was good, but not good enough. All four Riders hit 3 home runs each. Blaine scraped his knee on a no-infield fly rule attempt to get to second. Brad and Stephen continued to look like the most dominant rotation in the league, and the Riders' middle infield turned another double play.
NBC 11, Wiffle House 1
Wiffle House couldn't recover from NBC's 7 run first inning, as Ken gave up only 2 hits all game.
Wiffle House 2, NBC 6
Sam was wild in the first two innings, walking a run home in each before pulling himself in favor of Seth. He made up for it with 3 bombs off of Brian and Seth's crazy lefty slider was untouchable as NBC picked up the sweep.
So, we are heading in to the final week of the Wiffle Atlanta regular season. Teams are beginning to lube up for the playoffs, as well as All-Star and Awards voting, but, of course, there's no need to get too feisty, as we have an extra week after Week 10 to play make-up games. And to buy more lube.
