Wiffle Atlanta kicked off the pre-season today with a hit around at Kittredge Park. The smog and damp field couldn't deter those who were in attendance. One game was played, several home runs were hit and some amazing defensive plays made. Without giving too much away, the Rough Riders will contend this year but the surprise team may be the Pilopes? Iso-pirates? Pilates? [Pirosotopes. -Ed.] They have some newfound pitching and hitting prowess, as well as two of the best defenders in the league. The Donkeys showed in the forms of Blaine and Grant, both of whom displayed adjusted mechanics and pitch selections. Still rusty they managed to hold their own in the first "competitive" ball this spring. Come out next week for Spring Training, Part Deux. Don't forget season starting festivities kick off 4/20!
