Just one set of games was played over Father's Day weekend - everyone was scared of a getting a good whuppin' by their fathers for missing his big day - between the Pirosotopes and NBC. It was actually a make-up set, so in actuality, no scheduled games were played over the weekend. In any case, here's what happened. Edit: Another set of games between TPC and Rough Riders was actually played Sunday. In lieu of a recap, the teams split their series a game apiece.
Pirosotopes vs. NBC
Game 1
Game 1 saw NBC ace Ken Crochet duking it out with Eefus-baller George. The NBC piled runs on slowly throughout their six innings, and, although the P-topes had a couple rallies, one of which got them a run, they were ultimately unable to figure Ken out, and were put down by the first-place squad 8-1. (Many props on the relative success of the Eephus pitches!)
Game 2
Game 2 saw the sophomore up-and-comer Seth facing league patriarch Jordan in what turned out to be a well-pitched matchup. The only hit Seth allowed was a double to Stephen. Otherwise, the P-topes bats were held silent by the lefty. On the other side of the innings, Jordan allowed a few hits, but only a ground out and a bloop single by the youngin' Clayton scored runs for the NBC. Despite solid pitching on his part, though, Jordan could not help himself out with the stick, and the NBC take the series by way of a 3-0 victory.
