Teams were drafted playground style by the veterans in attendance and we wound up with a matchup of Brad Brickhouse, Chris Smith and Team X captain Chris Weber against Kevin Smith and an assortment of new players from 3 different teams on the creekside field. Chris Smith didn't need the short fences to hit several huge bombs, and Kevin consistently befuddled the radar gun, throwing the hardest 50 mph pitches I've ever seen.
Over on the Ghetto Field (where the strike zone was a sign mounted on a chair, and second base was a trash can) James McNeil's Isotopes crew put a whipping on a team made mostly from Wiffle House. It's been a rough spring so far for the House, as they have dropped all 3 of their informal matchups so far this spring, including twice to Isotopes.
There have been a lot of new players out these first few weeks of the spring, and it looks like the two new teams will both be very competitive. And now that the spring season if officially over, it's time to get excited for the regular season, beginning in 2 weeks.
